First light at the Kyle of Tongue in the far north of the Scottish mainland.
For me the area around the Kyle, dominated by the magnificent form of Ben Loyal, is one of the most beautiful in the whole of Scotland. This image had been some time in the planning; on previous visits I had noticed the meander produced by this stream at low tide and the potential foreground interest provided by the eroded edge of the salt flats. On this occasion low tide coincided with a favourable weather forecast; after sleeping in the car nearby I was on location to catch the best of the pre-sunrise light. The shot was taken at 4.08am.
